Cleanliness is next to Godliness
At the heart of the ground work done by #FUSA lies this very truth. The inability of some farmers to keep their farms clean, infrastructure well maintained and able to function smoothly beats us. How does one expect to be a successful farmer, when they are failing to oversee the simplest of things within their reach- a clean and well-maintained farm?
How does our government (with extension officers who are suppose to be on sites atleast once a month), continue to pour monies in farms that look like this? #FUSA visited this farm and was shocked to find it in this state. Dirt lying all over, pigs and plants not well looked after, yet there are 3 full time workers who were not even willing to show us around because it was their lunch break.
Farming is not for sissies.. people should know that and get into it with that full understanding. Let us not shame the race, the industry, Farmers. Farming is not a hobby, Farmers have a big responsibility to feed the nation and to take care of the environment. Farms like this should be fined and withdrawn from Government subsidies..they are clearly going nowhere slowly! How sad!
Access to market is a myth
Access to market is a myth, it's a barrier created by capitalists to keep us farmers down & out.
The farmers mindset to supply the likes of the big five giants is what kills the farmer.
Only if the mindset of our farmers could change & realize the opportunity that we are creating as Farmers United of South Africa with the Farm Stall. However there are those that get it.
Let's not chase for status that "I" supply Woolworths, Pick n Pay etc. The market is YOU, our people, not Pick n Pay or Checkers. Those are YOUR down fall farmer.
See what could be going direct to our people.. join us curb this problem and have a healthy nutritious society getting these Direct from us the farmers through our own Farm Stalls.
FUSA will win this war.
